Hey Ethan! Just saw that you have a Havanese. I was heartbroken when my Sean died 3 years ago. He was my baby. I love my current doggies (3: two mixed rescues and one Staffordshire Terrier) but I still dream about Sean. Havanese are special. (I’d post a pic, but don’t know how to do that in comments on “notes.”) Speak soon!

Susan I'm so sorry I missed this -- I'm so sorry about Sean, was he a Havanese too?

Hi Susan -- I'm sorry I missed this.... and I'm very sorry to hear about your Sean... yes, they're truly wonderful. I've written a full-length memoir of my travels in the region with him (as is probably obvious from my stories), but it's full of Havanese lore. hope you're doing well, despite..... ethan

Susan -- was Sean a Havanese?? One thing that absolutely flabbergasts me is that the media isn't focused on the details of Project 2025, it's usually the last thing mentioned in any report about the election, if that..also Clinton's name has been resurfacing, I doubt she will jump in, but it's interesting that she's polling ahead of Harris.

Ethan, I love that you have a Havanese! Hey, someone posted a tip in Writers At Work or Writers Office Hours that in addition to your pinned "Start Here" post, you can ALSO add that "Start Here" as a topic on your tool bar thingy up at the top. Check out my tool bar thingy to see what I mean. It's just an added place for readers to find that post. Hope this makes sense!

Kat (I hope I'm remembering right) -- thank you for the tip! have you found any lost Havanese? All of my content is open, you might like the excerpts from a forthcoming memoir called "The Dogmender of Yokohama" (under "Dogmender" tab). Did you see the book "Oliver" about the older guy whose dog was stolen from his car? It was so tear-jerky I could barely get through it. I'm from Berkeley originally.... and nice to meet you! Very Best, Ethan

Nice to meet you too! No, I will have to look into that. I'm so spastic right now trying to do Substack and have enough time to READ other stacks n stories, but anything dog-related I am game for! Where are you located now? Still in SF bay area? I am in British Columbia....kept moving north from Fresno up to Seattle, now Vancouver Island...I think I will end up at the North Pole by the time I am 70!

don't most lost dogs head north? I'm in Connecticut actually... but parents still live in Berkeley... I got a second havanese to ease the blow of the first passing when that happens, and keep him on his toes... but the combination has been pandemonium. I should also browse your training notes... there's an Italian writer who does short, quirky mysteries set in Italy, he's quite well known but i forget the name... has a series like that been done for dog mysteries? That would be so fun!
