E1. Neighbors Along A River: Environmental Peacebuidling At A Time of War

A Conversation With Gidon Bromberg, Founder and Co-Director of EcoPeace-Middle East.

Welcome the first episode of the “Slant” Podcast, in which I invite inspiring figures in Middle East politics, culture and environment, to discuss some of the most pressing issues of our times. Here, Gidon Bromberg and I discuss the concept of “environmental peacebuilding” and its direct relevance to the Israel-Gaza-Iran conflict.

We discuss the role of the 2020 Abraham Accords both in reframing the possibilities for Middle East peace—and opening the door to spoilers, as well as EcoPeace's work at the nexus of environment, trade, and logistics, including the Green Blue Deal, Project Prosperity, and the Peace Triangle, as well as advocacy for the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC). Finally, we face a sobering possibility: without a resolution to the current Israel-Gaza war, the rest of the Middle East, and the world, may literally leave Israelis and Palestinians altogether, in favor of other, ‘easier’ logistics corridors.

Listen to the full hour-long conversation with Gidon Bromberg above.
